DESCRIPTION
It is a spiny lizard, its scales ending in a sharp point, especially accented on the tail. It is a lizard with a robust body, short legs and a long tail. Its colour varies from reddish brown to jet black with paler patches.
ETHOLOGY
It is a diurnal animal, living in social groups making it easier to detect danger. It is a monogamous species, the female birthing 4 to 6 hatchlings which will live with their parents for the first years.
CURIOSITIES
If threatened, the Cunningham’s skink will hide in the nearest crevice, inflate its body and use the spines on its skin to anchor itself, making it practically impossible for its predator to remove it from its hiding place.
