Callimico goeldii

Description
They have a thick black coat, with lighter coloration around the face. This primate features claw-like nails on all toes except the thumb and a long tail. All this allows them to jump up to 4 meters horizontally without losing height.
Behaviour
They are diurnal and arboreal, it typically lives in groups ranging from 2 to 10 individuals. Females give birth to a single young and carry it exclusively for the first 10 to 15 days. Communication between clan members is almost constant and includes vocalizations, postures, facial expressions, yawning, etc. Their vocalizations include long-distance cries that travel more than 100 meters.
Interesting Facts
Populations of this species are in decline due to habitat destruction and illegal pet trade. Less than half of the forests where it is found are protected. Although arboreal, it is usually found less than 5 m above the ground. This strategy would allow it to take refuge from its main predators, birds of prey. And they are the only primates known to consume mushrooms as a substantial part of their diet during the dry season.
