Description
The male is grey with a dark brown head and a speckled breast. The female has white stripes above and below the eyes and speckles in the lower areas. Both sexes have grey wings, with black and white areas. 

Ethology
They are gregarious birds. During breeding season, the pairs form nests in the hollows of trees. The females lay 8-11 eggs that they will incubate for an average of 28 days. The chicks are raised by both parents. 

Interesting facts
They are not threatened, as they are very common in their place of origin. They are considered a pest for farmers in certain areas, as they can cause damage to rice and cereal crops. This is why it is hunted intensely, especially in South East Australia.
