Giraffe Emolo

ÉMOLO AN EXAMPLE OF OVERCOMING
I am Emolo. I was born in a zoo in Hungary in 2002 with a malformation in my right front paw.
I came to Oasis Wildlife with this injury, and here I was placed in the hands of their veterinary team. I learned to let them take x-rays of my paw voluntarily and to treat my hoof without the need for anaesthesia, which is dangerous for an animal as big as me.
After many medical tests, they proved that my malformation is not operable, but thanks to the care and regular check-ups by the experts, I have managed not to get worse and I lead a completely normal life.
I have been a mother twice and both the pregnancy and the care of my offspring have been normal.
You should know that the giraffe population has declined considerably in our natural habitat. We are considered a vulnerable species, and the conservation programmes carried out in rescue and recovery centres such as Oasis Wildlife are very important for our survival.
