Mare
Equus caballus

Description
Their eyes on the sides of their heads give them a very broad visual range, allowing them to flee from predators, and moveable ears. They only have one toe on each limb, resting the limb on the tip called a hoof. They are very fast, reaching speeds of 70 km/h. They have short hair except in the mane and tail, where the hair is very long. There are many different colours, with some even having patches and spots, depending on the breed.
Ethology
They are preyed on in the wild, which is why they are agile runners and can kick backwards. They live in harems formed by a male and a group of females with their foals. In captivity, they are docile and intelligent creatures that establish strong bonds with their riders. They are very curious and try to take anything that draws their attention with their mouths, as they have long hairs in their lips that serve as touch organs.
Interesting facts
Horses were first domesticated in North America by the indigenous tribes, with the purpose of using them to transport people and merchandise. They are currently kept for horse-riding and other sports or as pets. There are breeds that are especially bred for pulling carts or for agriculture, called draft horses, which can weigh up to 1,000 kg.
