Description
It is a small cockatoo. Its plumage is white, except for the lower part of the wings and the tail, with hints of yellow. The feathers of the crest, the cheeks and the breast have a pink coloured base. The beak is grey. The bare skin around the eyes is pale blue. The males have a dark brown iris while the female iris is reddish brown.
Ethology
They live in pairs or in small groups. They make their nests in tree holes or on large branches. Eggs are incubated for around 25 days, and chicks leave the nest 62 days after hatching.
Interesting facts
They are not endangered, but commercialisation as pets and habitat degradation due to deforestation are serious threats to this species.
