Description

Geoffroy's marmosets have a blackish-brown plumage and a slightly curly black tail. However, what characterizes this species is its white forehead, cheeks and throat as well as the black tufts in front of its ears.  Marmosets are arboreal primates with long, strong claws that help them to grip tree trunks.

Los titís de Geoffroy presentan un pelaje marrón negruzco y una cola negra ligeramente anillada. Aunque lo que caracteriza a esta especie es el color blanco de la frente, las mejillas y la garganta junto con los mechones negros de sus orejas. Los titíes son primates arbóreos con largas y fuertes garras que los ayudan a aferrarse a los troncos de los árboles.

Sein Gefieder weist eine intensiv rote Färbung auf und kontrastiert mit seiner weißen Gesichtshaut, welche von aus Federfluren bestehenden roten Linien durchzogen ist. Die Flügelunterseiten sind rot, während die Oberseiten der Flügel grün und nach unten hin dunkelblau sind. Die Spitze seiner langen Schwanzfedern ist ebenfalls dunkelblau. Er hat einen kräftigen gebogenen Schnabel, mit dem er mühelos harte Nussschalen knacken kann. Er hat gelbe Augen und dunkle Beine, welche mit speziellen Krallen ausgestattet sind, die er wie Hände benutzt, um nach Nahrung zu greifen.

Its intense red plumage stands out as it contrasts with the white areas of the skin on its face, which features red lines formed by tiny feathers.  The wings are red on the back, while the middle is greenish followed by sea blue. This color is also present in the point of its long tail. Its beak is curved, strong and adapted to split the hard shells of the nuts it eats. The eyes are yellowish, the feet dark and its claws are specially adapted to be used like hands and manipulate foods.

Guziec zwyczajny jest koloru czarnego lub brązowego. Sierść krótka na całym ciele z wyjątkiem grzywy o sztywnych i długich włosach na karku i grzbiecie. Pysk jest spłaszczony i ma dwie pary brodawek (narośli skórnych), obie płcie mają dobrze rozwinięte kły, których używają do obrony i kopania. Z dużą główką, guziec posiada oczy osadzone wysoko na głowie, aby móc wypatrywać lwów i lampartów, swoich głównych drapieżników.

Il facocero comune è nero o marrone. Presenta a malapena del pelo sul corpo tranne una criniera  lunga e rigida sul collo e sulle spalle. La faccia è appiattita e ha due paia di verruche. Entrambi i sessi hanno zanne ben sviluppate che utilizzano per difendersi e scavare. Con una testa voluminosa, il facocero ha gli occhi posti in cima alla testa per sorvegliare leoni e leopardi, i suoi principali predatori.
