Description

The wattled crane is the largest African crane. Its head is white, with a grey mark on the crown. The rest of the body is white and grey. The area around the eyes to the bottom of the beak and to the chin has no feathers, leaving its red skin colour visible to the naked eye. There are wart-like bumps of different sizes in this area and reaching to the wattle, which is where the name comes from.

Es la grulla africana de mayor tamaño. Su cabeza es blanca con una mancha de color gris en la parte superior. El resto del cuerpo es blanco y gris. La zona de alrededor de los ojos hasta la base del pico y la barbilla está desprovista de plumas, dejando a la vista la piel de color rojo. Sobre esta piel, se observan verrugas de distintas dimensiones a las cuales se debe su nombre.

Po obu stronach głowy mają pióra tworzące charakterystyczny czub w kolorze białym. Reszta ciała ma kolor niebiesko-szary, natomiast szyja, głowa i przód ciała są czarne. Podczas lotu, tak jak wszystkie żurawie, utrzymują ciało wyciągnięte, w odróżnieniu od czaplowatych, które składają ciało podczas lotu. Samce i samice są bardzo podobne, praktycznie niemożliwe jest ich rozróżnienie na pierwszy rzut oka.

Possiede al lato degli occhi piume tipo cresta di colore bianco. Il resto del corpo è azzurro grigiastro di tonalità cenere, mentre il collo, il volto e il petto sono neri. In volo, come tutte le gru, mantiene il collo eretto a differenza degli aironi che lo mantengono raccolto. Maschi e femmine sono molto simili ed è praticamente impossibile distinguerli a prima vista.

Das charakteristischste Kennzeichen dieser kleinsten Art der Kraniche ist das Büschel weißer Federn hinter den Augen. Der restliche Körper ist blau- bis aschgrau mit schwarzen Federn an Hals, Kopf und Brust. Wie alle Kraniche fliegt er mit gestrecktem Hals, im Gegensatz zu den Reihern, die den Hals im Flug einziehen. Männchen und Weibchen sind einander so ähnlich, dass sie mit bloßem Auge praktisch nicht zu unterscheiden sind.

Sur chaque côté de leurs yeux, elles ont des plumes en forme de crête de couleur blanche. Le reste du corps est bleu argenté avec des teintes cendrées alors que leur cou, leur tête et le poitrail sont noirs. En vol, comme toutes les grues, elles gardent le cou droit à la différence des hérons qui le plient. Mâles et femelles sont très semblables et il est difficile de les différencier à simple vue.

Description

They have feathers on the sides of their eyes that look like a white crest. The rest of the body is an ash greyish blue colour, whilst the neck, face and breast are black. Like most cranes, this one flies with its neck stretched out, not retracted like a heron. Males and females are very similar.

Tienen a cada lado de sus ojos unas plumas a modo de cresta de color blanco. El resto del cuerpo es azul grisáceo de tono ceniza, mientras que cuello, cara, y pecho son negros. En vuelo, como todas las grullas, mantienen su cuello erguido a diferencia de las garzas que lo mantienen recogido. Machos y hembras son muy similares.

Szary ptak z koroną w kolorze żółtym, czerwoną zwisającą „brodą” i białymi plamami na policzkach. Pióra na szyi mają kolor szaro-perłowy, skrzydła są czarne i brązowe. Ogon jest szary, natomiast nogi i dziób mają kolor czarny.

Sono grigie con una corona di colore giallo, grandi barbe rosse pendenti dalla gola e chiazze bianche nelle guance. Le piume del collo sono grigio perla e quelle delle ali sono nere e marroni. La copertura delle ali è bianca, hanno la coda grigia e le zampe, i piedi e il becco di colore nero.
